Denver Broncos win preseason opener vs Cowboys lose starter to injury

The Denver Broncos hosted the Dallas Cowboys in their preseason opener on the weekend in Empower Field at Mile High.

In the Broncos 17-7 victory the Broncos lost a key player to an injury that could cause an impact to the team's defense.

Jonas Griffith exits game vs Cowboys because of an injury

The Broncos defense was dealt a major loss on Saturday during their loss to the Cowboys.

Jonas Griffith, a starter on the Denver defense, was forced to leave the game due to an injury to his elbow.

The injury occurred on the second game play.

Griffith immediately fell off the game and was evidently suffering a lot.

The injury sustained by Griffith is reason to be concerned due to the lack of experience of starters in the role.

In front of him behind him, the Broncos are anchored by Alex Singleton who they brought into the fold as part of NFL Free Agency.

Singleton had previous experience as a starting player, in which he played 8 games with his team the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021.

Other linebackers who are on this roster are Justin Strnad, Barrington Wade and Kana'i Mauga.

In the month of March the Broncos hosted veteran LB Joe Schobert for a visit. The Broncos could consider inviting him back into the facility again in the event that Griffith is absent for a significant period of time.
